Session 4:The Road to Rodia

Hailey and Tali return to the ship upon being notified of the cargo's arrival. They store the groceries in the galley, then Hailey sees to getting J9 to help her load the ship while Tali pays for the cargo.

Boris and Jowmum finish their business with the information dealer with a greater than anticipated haul of credits. They meet Hailey and Tali at the ship.

"Oh good! You're back! You can help us finish loading." Hailey lifts and shoves a large box of cargo into Boris's arms.

Boris is crushed under the cargo crate
"Ow! Why would wound me instead of using the pile jack?"
Boris rasps.

Jowmum laughs in binary at the banter. Don't forget to get me when y'all go to supper. *twists his hat and goes inside to continue next hyperspace jump calculations, practice programming, and disable the moral system on the Dejarik table.*

Before the cargo piles up too high, Tali starts taking manual inventory. She doesn't hand count every item, but makes sure her visual estimate matches the cargo scanner and invoice. When she's reasonably sure there are no false bottoms or mislabeled crates she pays for the cargo.
No offense intended by the brief inspection, but recent stow-aways have made me a bit suspicious about blindly accepting cargo.

Note to GM:

She then enters the ship and gets the pile jack from its charging dock on the wall, and helps load and secure the cargo.

Hailey puts down a particularly obtuse package when the pile jack appears. She rolls her eyes at herself and continues helping.

*Giggles at Hailey's reaction*
Did you think the CEC would outfit their recruits with rations and fuel, but no pile jack. It's about as essential as the ship.

Who designed this Dejarik table? There are practically no security systems on it... Wait a minute! This is a potential security risk.

*installs security measures into the table software*

Once the crate has moved off Boris.
"It was in the corner. And by bothan standards I am not very strong."
Boris dusts himself off.
"If everything is good we should head to my aunts. I will lead the way."

When all the cargo is safe on the ship, everyone gets cleans up and follows Boris to his aunt's house.

Tali looks back at the cargo she just invested in, trying to convince herself that she can enjoy a meal without worrying about it.
Hey, JM, I'm sure this port is safer than Nabuku, but would you mind making sure this stays locked until we get back.
*brings one of her head tails forward and fidgets with the end nervously*

After everyone is seated in there seats by race. The Matron starts a slide show while everyone eats.
"Now here is some holos of Boris entering the University. Here is his first take down of a slaver operation. Here is when he was reunited with his parents. Here is when he introduced them to his adopted family."
It continues in this vein for a while much to the mortification of Boris. Many of them look like they were taken from security footages. In the background of two holos is a man with a blue light saber. The food is delicious prepared especially for everyone personally.

"If you're worried about locks that don't stop people, I can now lock a lock that'll stop dishonest fingers. There's no need for JM to stay behind. Here I'll show you." Hailey pulls her over to watch as she locks the ship really really well, electrifies the lock, then links it to her com-link so that it'll tattle if anyone tampers with it.

To Tali, on the way out of the spaceport.

And on that note, I closed a security hole in a computerized system the jacker probably used.

Tali "relaxes" a little, maybe, at least tries to.

At dinner, it is semi-obvious to the keen observer that Hailey doesn't often eat this nice. She keeps quietly peering at how others are eating to see what knife or spoon to use... As if she knows there is a "proper" way to eat your food but doesn't quite know the finer points of it.

When she sees the laser sword, she recognizes it but doesn't mention it, instead making a note to ask Boris about it later.

Tali, overcome by the wonderful smell of home cooking, doesn't get real picky about which fork to use, but does neatly cut things into bite-size bits. She enjoys her meal and uses a roll to "clean her plate." Nothing is messy or savage about her eating, but nothing is fancy either.

Jowmum joins in on the conversation, but makes no move on the food.

I wonder if I could modify a blaster or something into a device to turn organic spices' food into usable power.

"Why would you show that?"
Boris demands.
"Let's see you never write, never call, You didn't even tell me that you rescued my little sister and the first time I hear from you in 7 years it is to arrange cargo transit."
