Session 11: 10 Days of Hyperspace

I place my own 15 credits in the pot.
Boris, are you joining?
I keep shuffling and reshuffling the deck.

Ishwarr, having come in to clean everyone else out, slaps 15 of his credits on the table. The table rocks a little bit and Jowmum's carefully balanced stack tips over.

"Are you sure want me to?"
Boris looks amused. He carefully puts Ishwarr's blood in the fridge after labelling it Poison Do NOT Eat. and wrapping it carefully.
He then walks over to the table and asks.
"What is the betting at?"
Boris the proceed to use the force to sense what people feeling and try and nudge things in his favor. Using all the cunning taught him by his uncle.

"15 credits to start things off. Then when everyone's ready, we can make it a little more... interesting..." Hailey moves over to give Boris a seat between herself and JM.

Boris seats himself.

With one final shuffle, I deal everyone five cards and explain.
Alright, the game is Sabak, the ante is set at 15 credits for this round. And it seems like everyone's ante'd up. Alright Jow, would you start the bet?
The table order is myself as dealer, to my left Jow, to his left Boris, to his left Hailey, and finally to her left Ishvaar.

Ooc: Please join me in an hour if you wanna try sabak on roll20.

Hailey looks curiously at her cards for a while, being careful not to show them to anyone. While JM starts to take his turn, she starts rearranging them a little.

Jowmum plays at a beginner skill level for the warm up round. When the actual betting starts, he pulls up an old strategy program from when he was a real card shark.

Four:

"Well lets get started."
Boris says grinning, sensing the general mood.

Hailey's emotional state is reminiscent as she recalls Martin's usual strategy. In a blend, they come in a random order containing the following...

Nobody can seem to read Jowmum when he throws up a perfect Poker face, but to enhance it, he sends a few weak false emotional messages through his mask.

OOC: Are we playing on top of the Djerik table? And who all is playing?

Ooc:Boris sat at the table, but never placed his ante (15 credit buy in to the round). I'll give him a chance to respond, but until then he's not playing. the dejarik table would be rather small, so we'll be at the dining table until we get a card table for the lounge.

Boris ante's up

"As I've said before," Hailey holds her cards down. "I used to play this with my cousin, but I've since deduced that he was cheating me, and getting away with it like you wouldn't believe. Last time I played this was probably about twelve years ago. All I really remember is that it's a logic game; this beats that, this beans mine, mine beats yours; and that the betting is usually an indication of how strong your current hand is. Am I correct?"

"That is the premise. Who beats who... well that depends on the individual cards and their relation to each other. Hang on I have charts"

Strengths:

Boris passes his pad around.

Hailey receives the pad last, and studies it the longest. Half way though, she asks, "Do you mind if I keep this handy the first game?"

"Suurrreee???"
Boris responds.

OOC: It would be fun to actually play this game as our characters would... but I have no idea how to proceed from here.

OOC: I kind of made Jowmum an old pro. I am not that good. I think GM should determine outcome and if we play ourselves, it should represent the zero steaks warm-up round.
My favorite outcomes involve no credits shifted, and Ishwarr going broke.

Um... Hailey, can I have an optical scan of that pad?

"You had your chance!" Hailey holds the pad against her chest. "Just use a freeze frame from your recorded memory."

But it scrolls and I didn't get to see it all.

Jowmum furrows his hat to make angry eyebrows.

Besides, my recorded memory gets set to low resolution when on board the ship when we don't have "guests." Even so, I never got a good viewing angle of the rules.

"You did pass it along when it was handed to you. It's not my fault I didn't make a visual scan then... but for the sake of actually getting the game started, you must promise to give it back right away."

When Jowmum receives the pad, the section detailing the rules of 2 Pair is highlighted.

"Thank you..." Hailey scrolls until she finds the section she was looking at again.
