Session 5: Rodia to Tython

Boris and Jowmum end in a draw as the professor is preparing a meal for everyone.

Good game. I am putting the finishing touches on the presentation on how to set up a safe interaction chamber for a new AI should one try attacking. I am thinking of putting myself sort of in the cage then turning it inside out when something I want comes close.

"My father used to do the same thing with the occasional bounty hunter, only he remained inside and the rest of us were the cage." Hailey follows her nose to the kitchen. "Is it almost ready? What is it, by the way?"

Tali is silently hoping Boris learned anything about cooking from his aunt.

After tasting the professor's soup Boris redoes the seasoning in his bowl serendipitous. He is already starting to think about what he was going to do at the site and was mostly trying to tune everything out.

Tali sets the table.

Jowmum dominates the galley with his holoslideshow. By the time everyone is finished eating, everyone is well versed in his trap idea.

"Yes,um..." Hailey looks thoughtful for a brief second. "Is there a way you could have said all of that, but in like one hundredth of the words?"

Jowmum projects  a litteral wall of text above the table.


Sure, but there would have been a lot more reading and a lot fewer interesting animations.

"Don't Agargvate The Can Otherwise he will bother us constantly."
Boris Says in badly accented Twi'lek using his hands as tails.

Hailey looks at Boris for a moment, then shrugs and continues eating her soup.

*SNORT, choke, gasp, laugh, gasp* Soup sprays out of Tali's nose as she laughs at his attempt to speak Ryl.
Answers back in Ryl.
I'm sorry *gasp, gasp* the words weren't pronounced so poorly *chuckle* it's just really awkward without the accompanying signs. *Heh-he* That's why you don't usually see races other than Twi'lek and Togruta try to speak Twi'leki. Just don't reference anyone's parents and you should be only awkward, not offensive.
Tali keeps giggling while she wipes up her mess.

"Can do not speak yet."
Boris says with a perfect straight face.
"Hope Everyone is enjoy their soup. Thank you professor."

"Yes, thanks Professor." Hailey looks at the two multi-linguists. "Whatever it was that was going on between you two, I hope it was about the professor, because I'm pretty sure he doesn't hold grudges."

Jowmum accesses the a language database on the ship to get the translation of Boris and Tali's conversation. He decides getting back on topic is more important than letting that on he understood anything.

So, who is going to help me build this cage? I am really looking forward to when I can hunt down a copy of that program for interrogation. Of course, there will always be some risk that it will see through the cage and get into my main systems, but we can minimize that risk if we can all work together.

"I'd like to build you a cage," Hailey mumbles under her breath.

Hailey puts on an evil smile. "Yes, who would like to help me build Jowmum's cage?"

"I am sure the Professor knows at least rudimentary Ryl. No, this is just part of bettering myself through the increase of linguistics"
Boris watches Jowmum for any sign of reaction.
"Sigh Jows lets at least digest the information before running ahead. We have time it is not an immediate task. I call the press."

Tali switches back to common when she can breathe normally again.
I was just surprised at how awkward the language sounds without the appropriate gestures accompanying the words to provide intonation. Any idioms would sound totally moronic without them. I suggest he avoid those, and any topics involving parents or clan heads.

Jowmum quietly wipes his treads on the carpet in impatience.

"Call the press?" Hailey looks at Boris. "I don't believe I've heard that idiom before. Well, maybe my cousin Martin..."

"metal maybe the lathe."
Boris responds.

Turns to Hailey
A droid cage hmm... would definitely need to put a collar around his tool ports to prevent him from cutting his way out...if we weren't worried about data corruption we could just use a large magnet...
