Hailey "The Wraith" Adri

Appearance:In a word, unremarkable. She is somewhat narrow, somewhat amber, and somewhat scruffy, though not enough of any of these to be noticeable. She has somewhat wild, short hair the color of burnt umber. Her eyes are on the golden side of hazel, except in direct sunlight when they glimmer emerald. She has a milky almond complexion, and a stance like that of a hawk most of the time. She wears steal toed hiking boots, dark tan cargo pants, a waist style utility belt, a beige short sleeve shirt, an almost black vest, and a dark brown jacket that she usually ties around her waist in hot weather.

Adri is at least the third or fifth last name Hailey has ever gone through. Her story actually stars a few generations ago when a great grandfather slowly accumulated and built a successful gambling empire across a couple of systems in the outer ring. But then some old family "friend" took advantage of his dimmer wits and stole it all from him. Ever since then, Hailey's recent ancestors have stolen back the family wealth piece by piece, and they've become better at it over the generations. Hailey was raised by a father who tells her a different story about a mother every time she asks.

When Hailey was a child, any education was based on a "Learn It Or Die Trying" philosophy. She learned to sell things and tell selling stories at three, which was about as soon as she could talk. Less than a year later, she began to pick up the concepts of numbers, math, and about how much something was worth. Shortly after that, she started pick-pocketing the stingy aristocrats who under paid her. She got in trouble several times, and was forced to return the stolen items; but then she started learning how to run, dodge, blend in, and hide.

As a treat for her eleventh birthday, Hailey's father sat her in the gunner seat of his ship at the time and flew her around the planet. He wasn't sure if or not he'd just scared his only child for life when they came back and she was withdrawn, but later that week he caught her trying to launch the ship all by herself. Hailey quickly became a proficient pilot, and before anyone knew it she was dodging asteroids with her cousins.

Hailey also became a master thief, and occasionally tells stories of her materialistic conquests. One particular such story details how she looted and replaced the Emperor's own lightsaber about fourteen years after he declared the Galactic Republic an Empire. It was on a transport ship to a high security vault on Coruscant, a transport she smuggled herself onto as a security guard, then smuggled herself off it as a piece of space debris. As only a jedi or syth would be able to tell the difference between a lightsaber and a weighted glow stick without proper testing (i.e. slicing the other guard in half), she claims that no one has discovered this ruse as of yet. However, doubt has been cast upon this story as Hailey was never able to produce either the lightsaber itself or proof of purchase by a black market customer.

One of the many keys to Hailey's success at stealing comes from her limited use of the Force. While she has yet to develop any philosophy or religious beliefs about or around the Force, she can, with enough imagination, giggle objects (especially locks) to move about in her favor. She is not talented enough with the Force to perform jumps, telepathy, saber wielding, or 'sensing' things. It has helped her gain a reputation as "The Wraith". It is said The Wraith can steal without respect for force-fields, traps, or blast doors, but no one has ever caught The Wraith on camera. Or at least, caught her and known it... or lived to tell about it.

Hailey's track record is not flawless. She is wanted in three systems somewhere behind her and unwanted in several others. Because of this, she prefers to keep moving after finishing a job as opposed to waiting around until the local authorities (if present) start sketching pictures of her face to post around the planet.

She has skills in mundane methods of lock picking, computer hacking, piloting a small areo-space craft, lying, sweet-talking, auctioning, appraisal, negotiation, and making herself scarce. She owned (until recently) her own tiny ship, until a misunderstanding as to the consequences of a failed job incurred the wrath of her client. Afterwards he placed a particularly powerful bomb on her ship, and now assumes her dead. Hailey now finds herself somewhat stranded on the single most inhospitable planet to galactic scum: Imperial Center.

Hailey also has significant weapon skills. She is proficient with a blaster, barbed whip, and grappling hook, and keeps one of each in her utility sash. She has excellent hand eye coordination, impressive strength for a human female, and slightly better than average intelligence. She knows enough about people to tell when her "friends" are about to double or triple cross her, and continues to "trust" them until the moment before the moment of truth. She herself does not double cross someone just because she can, but keeps some sort of moral as she is stealing back her family wealth.

Though Hailey usually isn't the most magnificent of team players, she can and does contact a cousin to two for tougher jobs. She knows how to work together with someone or a group of people. She knows family members by a tiny bronze emblem (image to be determined) in combination with a traditional greeting and secret gestures that express what clan of the family you're from.

When Hailey suspected that her disgruntled client wanted her dead, she promised one of the local bums a years worth of descent living to pilot her ship around the shipping lanes a couple times... but the promise fell through as soon as the ship erupted into orange, blue, and white flames on the launch pad, then exploded into burning cinders and twisted shrapnel. Hailey was just lucky enough that there was a solid parts closet nearby, and enough left of the poor peasant to convince the bomber she was dead.

Of course, you can't go showing your face around a planet where you're supposed to be dead, even more so if the authorities are arresting every shadowy figure unfortunate enough to be caught near the bombing sight. Fortunately for Hailey, she'd parked in a particularly shady corner of town. Even more fortunate was that there were pilots taking off left and right now, all of them hoping to avoid a possible space port lock down. The local troops would have their hands full trying to stop or catch all those ships, much less spotting one smoke smudged Wraith darting through the shadows to the next space port over. Maybe she would have a chance to get out of here before her client realized the crispy skull in the charred remains of the cockpit over there was twice the size it should have been...

Fun now we just nee to work out how we are all working together.

UPDATE:
The first home Hailey remembers was a planet where it was sunny for 6 standard years and then night for the same amount of time. The surface was humanly uninhabitable during the day, but the local life-forms were profitable to trade with at night. There as a large, luminescent indigo nebula outside the system, and when humans do visit, they prefer the time of 'year' when this nebula is visible from the dark side of the planet.

It was here than Hailey learned to be a three year old con artist. The locals must be rather gullible if they're regularly fooled by little children.

Shortly after day arrived, the family clan picked up their belongings and moved.
