After getting Boris' attention again,

And all this time, I thought it was a fancy way to get me to see the single most... interesting podrace still being held in the galaxy. They aren't as common as they once were, you know. You did get a goldmine of interviews done while you were there, so, even from your point of view, it couldn't have been all that much of a loss.

"There is a galaxy of difference between being forcibly detained and loosing aforementioned notes while being questioned about my alleged rebel, pirate, or bounty hunter ties for 8 weeks with intermediate cavity searches and the field of research I am interested in you indefinable intelligence. I lost 6 months of research because you had to access the main computer while I was turning over the prisoners. I had job offers from 12 various Rebel factions, 18 pirates, and one particularly determined bounty hunter if I would break them out when I did. Eventually it was cleared but it cost nearly all of my travel expenses for the year. So all in all I think the blame for that excursion lies on your head.

The podrace we attended while we were there was worth it, though. Tickets to the Boonta Classic have gone to ten times what we paid, with the whole ban on the sport and all, and it doesn't have nearly so much interest in the track design. Besides, if I hadn't accessed the main computer in the first place, that malfunctioning security drone would have used your face as a dartboard.

I only accessed the computer AFTER that drone went haywire.

Hailey pokes her head around the corner and looks at Boris. "You've at least got to tell me if you dealt with the ugly guard with the six arms, all muscle, no sense of humor, and a fleeting notion that the sense of smell is a myth. Was he ok? Or did he have to invest in some bionics? But don't worry about it if you didn't go there within the last three years."

Jowmum's head spins toward Hailey.

He had actually taken up racing by the time we were there. He had a bet with one of the inmates for that race. I don't suppose it matters, since they both had some serious encounters with chunks of ore in the anti-gravity conveyor belts. Neither of them survived.

After all, you don't have to know someone very well to need them to get their wretched smelling carcass out of your way. All I really wanted to know was if the prison physician was able to re-grow his left shoulders."
