I suppose a little dejarik couldn't hurt, unlike the time I thought that guys protocol droid could use some extra arms. Dad took away my welding privileges for a week.
I sit down and make my opening move, and wait for Hailey's counter.
Of course when you tell a kid they can't have something, they immediately think of fifty different ways to get it.
Four moves in, I'm already pretty confident the game is mine.
You've probably seen the damage crayons can cause, imagine a torqued off 6 year old who knows how to make a good weld. He had to buy a new set of end wrenches to replace the ones I'd welded together into a model of an AT-AT.
Eight moves, neither of us have really made a fatal error yet.
He can't have been too mad, he used it as part of his sign after no one would buy it.

Hailey sees no good moves for any of her pieces, so she moves a couple at random. The first one wins, the second one looses. "For as long as I can remember, if someone told me I couldn't have something, I didn't stop at coming up with ideas on how to get it. Sooner or later, my peeps just started giving me stuff when I asked for it. That way they had a chance of getting it back later if they needed it." We each have 2 pieces left on the board.

After their game, and Ishwarr's lesson, Jowmum discretely mods the Dejarik table for three players. The new set of pieces resemble various droids used in the Clone War.

I think this next game will be more interesting
My face shifts from casual play and conversation, to a "game face" focusing intently, trying to guess the new piece's strengths.

The game fizzles for a moment.

*binary* ???!

Jowmum's eye constricts for a second, then expands to normal once he fixes the game.

The board graphics now flash satisfyingly and Jowmum turns to Hailey.

OOC: Jowmum had modified the game well beyond the original specs. He reconfigured the game so it senses the tiny disruptions in the holographic systems and runs them through a sound processor and identifies moves in standard notation and inputs the move. Other modifications include improvements to the code supporting the projector, elimination of the secret technobabble feature time bomb waiting for 100 years to pass before rendering the game unplayable,... 10 forum pages on nonsence later... and eliminating the quantum irruptions mess with the game's single player AI.
