I'd normally try to find the bright side to this, but a broken rib is no laughing matter. Seriously, don't laugh... it hurts like hell. I broke mine a few years ago on an agility course.

*Before Hailey goes to her room...*

"What, you think this is the first bo-bo I've ever had?" Hailey starts serving herself a to-go plate. "When I was thirteen, I'd stolen the precious stone bust of a Senator did not have any sense of humor. My first ship, which I hadn't exactly asked my dad if I could borrow for a few weeks, was a clunky old rust bucket if you ever saw one that was still space worthy; but not after a single shot. I later learned that it was supposed to be a warning shot, as that's the only reason a Senator's battle ship carries flares." She sighs with nostalgia. "My ship went down with a very cinematic engine fire and a suitably dramatic cloud of smoke when it crashed. Broke my arm too, and much worse than this cracked rib. Moments after I clambered out of the wreck, the whole mess erupted into flames and set the local shrubbery on fire, so I was forced to wait it out in a nearby pond. Ask me the rest of the story later, I'm going to my room."

the cards are labeled 2-10,J,Q,K,A (standard poker deck)in four colors. there are several combinations such as pairs, flushes, straights and so on... conitues rules of five card draw poker.

After a minute of looking at the cards, a dawning look of recognition spreads across Hailey's face. "I remember this! My cousin Martin is a card shark, and when I was a kid he'd practice on me and Sasha and... Paytang. Man! That was years ago! I was almost getting good at it until that jerk quit playing with me. You'll have to teach me your rules, though. Knowing him he probably made up new rules every day just to beat me..." Hailey tries to shuffle some cards, but stops before she fails miserably. "Does the 3 of diamonds by itself still beat the 2 of clubs?"

If nobody has any sets a three certainly beats a two, but, uh, i don't think there are enough cards for that situation to occur...
Starts thinking to her self how the winning hand amongst five players with five cards each is a three over a two.
Maybe if there were only four players and all other cards were of identical value...

"Well, that was assuming that the 2 of clubs beats anything except a straight, even a flush which also beats a straight, but I was told that the 2 of clubs still beats it. Except the second time I ever had a 2 of clubs when Martin didn't have a straight, he had the 3 and he told me it's the only thing that beats a 2 of clubs and a straight."

Oh, boy. I think Martin may have been having fun at your expense. While it may have been all fun as kids, he should have corrected you as an adult! I hope you never got caught in foolish bets over his made up rules.
I start looking up official rules online.
See look, while yes a three would beat a two, they are both very low cards that would have trouble winning a hand on their own. Suit doesn't matter in this game.

15 credits in coins are gracefully launched and land in a perfect pile in the middle of the table.

Jowmum mentally keeps track of all he sees and makes his bets appropriately. The shuffled deck is sacred as are anyone else's hands, but if they bleed, they are fair game.

OOC: Bleeding in cards is accidentally showing someone else your cards.
